Lottery Description

Compared to some of the other lotteries, like the Euro Millions or the German Lotto, the Euro Jackpot is designed to pay out prizes much more frequently. That is because of the difference in the odds given.  The Euro Jackpot is 1 to 95 million, but the odds for the Euro Millions is 1 to one hundred and seventeen million, and the odds for the German Lotto odds are calculated at 1 to one hundred and thirty nine million. As a result, it is not anticipated that the Euro Jackpot will grow at the same rate to the record breaking sizes achieved by the Euro Millions Lottery, as the possibility exists of it being won much sooner instead.

Up to January 2013, the Euro Jackpot had what is called a roll down clause. This means that in the case of the jackpot not being won for twelve consecutive draws, the thirteenth draw will be subject to a roll down. If there is no entry that is able to match all winning seven numbers after the thirteen draws, the jackpot will be paid out to the next winning tier where a winner is available. It was because of this clause that the previous jackpot record of over twenty seven million Euros was set in August 2012, as a German player could correctly match all the five main numbers, but only one of the two supplementary numbers, and still was able to walk away with this enormous jackpot in the second prize tier.

The record for the largest jackpot ever won in the Euro Jackpot was set in May 2015, when a person from the Czech Republic won the jackpot of ninety million Euros.
